Aston Villa’s good run of form towards the end of the campaign has also been a major boost for the England national team.

Traditionally, Villa have always had a number of English players in their squad. To see them doing extremely well under the management of Tim Sherwood is a boost for manager Roy Hodgson, who looks to have turned the corner with the national team. After a very poor World Cup had put his future in doubt, Hodgson has seen England go on a spectacular winning run that will see them qualify for the Euro 2016 without any trouble.

Some of the Villa names that have recently been in the headlines are Tom Cleverley, Jack Grealish, and Ashley Westwood. Amongst the trio,Grealish is capable of representing either the Republic of Ireland or the England national team. He has featured for the Ireland team at the youth level but he recently rejected a call up by Martin O’Neill for a competitive match. This has been seen as a strong indication that he will be choosing England as a senior team. Sherwood has welcomed the Roy Hodgson to Villa Park for the final few matches of the season. He says that will have always been open to giving their young English players a chance.

“There are a few to choose from here. They’re all doing well.Roy’s got to make his own mind up.He was here against Everton and Ray Lewington was here against West Ham.There’s always someone here (at Villa Park) because there are lots of England players on show here.I just want them to play well for Aston Villa. It’s down to Roy. He’s then got a decision whether there are better midfielders than Tom... or Fabian Delph and Ashley Westwood,” said Sherwood about Roy Hodgson’s options at Aston Villa.
