Hodgson Congratulas Van Gaal

England national team boss Roy Hodgson has sent out his congratulations to his Dutch counterpart Louis van Gaal, who has been named as the next manager of Manchester United. The club have been conducting discussions with the 62-year-old ever since they parted company with David Moyes while some even have suggested that United have been talking with van Gaal even before Moyes was sacked. Either way, he will now lead the club into the new season hoping to be much more successful than his predecessor. He has already given out the firm objective of winning the title next campaign.

United finished in a disappointing seventh place last season, which was their worst season in the last few decades. Van Gaal, though, has the positive aspect of not being involved in Europe next season, which would allow his players more time to concentrate on the league matches. This was a significant factor as Liverpool managed to challenge for the title former a similar position last season. Hodgson, who has the experience of managing a top club in the past after being the Liverpool manager for a few months, says that van Gaal could be the right fit for the Red Devils.

Ironically, Hodgson has called van Gaal as the chosen one in a jibe against the banner for former manager David Moyes.
"I know Louis. I don't know him very well but I am more than a passing acquaintance. I have always got on very well with him when we've met. We had a mutual friend in (former Holland player and manager) Rinus Michels so he was the person who introduced in the first instance. I am pleased for him. He has been asked to take on a big job and my congratulations to him for that,” said Hodgson ahead of his team preparing for the World Cup 2014.
