Keith Downing and West Bromwich Albion have a huge list of tasks left to do as the transfer window has re-opened but the Premier League club still have not found their ideal coach as Steve Clarke was sacked around 1 month ago and now Downing is the man in charge of the club until they can find someone else.

Osasuna’s Jose Luis Mendilibar is a top candidate on being the new coach of West Bromwich Albion as he is being linked strongly with the job but other names are emerging such as Pepe Mel and Malky Mackay but the club is taking the necessary time before making a conclusion.

Mirko Slomka has led Hannover 96 to successive Europa League campaigns and he was sacked a few days after Christmas and now becomes an available person to take control of the club. Since taking control of West Bromwich Albion, Keith Downing has managed to get 3 draws and 1 victory and he has stated that he does not want to take the role of coach on a full-time basis.

Even though West Bromwich Albion still has not settled on who will be taking the reins of the club, there still are rumors and reports being spread around involving potential players that might be leaving and joining the club in this transfer window.

The boss of Hull City Steve Bruce is believed to be ready to sign Shane Long from West Bromwich Albion on a €5 million deal. The price was agreed some days ago and all that is left is for the player to go through some medical tests and the official confirmation from both clubs to be done.

Sunderland’s Craig Gardner is another target of West Bromwich Albion but it still is unclear on whether Keith Downing will try and sign him up in this month of January or wait until his contract expires in the summer as he becomes a free agent which would be the best financial decision for the club.
