FERGIE BACKS MCCOIST

Submitted by isport

Alex Ferguson is of the view that Ally McCoist, the previous manager of the Rangers FC, actually went about his job quite well in the duration he was in charge and he does not deserve all the criticism that has been poured on him in the last few months.

Rangers suffered a number of defeats under McCoist the previous season and their bid to make it to the top tier of Scottish football took a hit.

McCoist eventually resigned, taking accountability of the below par performance of the team, and was replaced by Mark Warburton. The Blues have secured 4 straight wins under Warburton’s guidance in the ongoing Scottish championship.

While Ferguson refused to pass any statement on Warburton and his managerial style, he emphasized that he would give McCoist full marks for what he did while being at helm for the Rangers.

When he was at Manchester United, Ferguson became one of the World's most successful managers, so he knows a thing or two about football! In between telling fans about who he would have signed, and giving more info about tickets for M.U, he touched on how he thinks Ally McCoist was unfairly treated in the press.

Speaking to a TV channel the other night, Ferguson, who is a former Rangers’ player himself, said, “Everyone has been after Ally McCoist of late. But, that’s not fair.”

“Those who have managed a Football team know how much of pressure comes with the job. It would have been immensely tough for Ally to keep his composure with all the distractions.”

“It’s obviously a good thing that the Rangers are now winning under Mark. I don’t have that much of idea about him to be honest, so I can’t say much and neither would I draw comparisons between him and Ally, but, he has results in his favour and thus, he should be given credit. He built a great reputation for himself at Brentford and he is only enhancing that over here. I hope he is able to help Rangers qualify for Premiership.”

Rangers, as understandable, are leading the Championship points table at the moment with Queen of the South being placed at the second position.
