SHAW GETS ENGLAND DEBUT

Submitted by isport

Southampton defender Luke Shaw recently earned his first call-up for the England national side, as they played in a friendly against Denmark at the Wembley. The 18-year-old has impressed heavily with the Premier league outfit over the last few months.

This is even increased speculation that the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United will make it £ 25 million offer for him in the summer. It is understood that he was subjected to transfer interest even in January, but Southampton were not prepared to sell him. The 18-year-old soon made his debut for the national team in the 1-0 win over Denmark.

He is expected to be the replacement for Ashley Cole and Leighton Baines in the future. Despite the troubles faced by Cole in terms of getting into the Chelsea team, Roy Hodgson stated that the 33-year-old remains an integral part of the national team. This is also the opinion of Luke Shaw, who says that he is prepared to give the manager a tough time in terms of omitting him from the squad for the World Cup. Cole started this match ahead of Shaw, but he was replaced with the young teenager. The 18-year-old not only provided a stable defensive contribution, but he was also willing to attack at every opportunity.

He is a Chelsea fan and there is every possibility of him joining the club he supports in the summer.

“I wouldn't even have thought I would even be getting mentioned to be going away with the senior squad. But it has happened and I enjoyed every minute of it and I will never forget the moment I came on. It has been an emotional week and the best week of my life. I will never forget this week. Hopefully if I keep putting in good performances then Roy will have a hard decision to make," said Shaw.
